Every August, the
Turner Classic Movies
channel airs the "Summer Under the Stars" festival, devoting each day
to a particular actor. This year, only one actor's day includes a
Lorre film.
All times shown are Eastern Standard.

Aug 5 (Fri), 6 am, Fox Movie Channel – Voyage to the Bottom
of the Sea (1961)
Aug 5 (Fri), 7 am, Antenna TV Channel – The Jack Benny Program (CBS, Jan. 22,
1963). Peter Lorre guest-stars as a killer who has a plastic surgeon change his
face to look like Jack Benny's.
Aug 10 (Wed), 1:30 am, MeTV Channel – Alfred Hitchcock Presents, "Man From
the South" (CBS, March 13, 1960). Peter Lorre guest-stars as a gambler who makes
an unusual bet for high stakes with a couple in Las Vegas.
Aug 17 (Wed), 2 am, Talking Pictures TV Channel – Tales of Terror (1962).
Aug 19 (Fri), 1 pm, Talking Pictures TV – I Was an Adventuress (1940).
Aug 20 (Sat), 7:15 am, TCM – Strange Cargo (1940). Joan
Crawford is the star today, and her line-up includes the only movie she
made with Peter Lorre.
Aug 26 (Fri), 11 pm, Talking Pictures TV – Tales of Terror (1962).
Aug 31 (Wed), 2:10 am, Talking Pictures TV – The Raven (1963).
Sneak Peek at September, 2022
Peter Lorre's closest friend Humphrey Bogart is TCM's "Star of the Month",
and all four of the movies they made together at Warner Bros. will be
shown, as well as several other Lorre films.
Sept 1 (Thurs), TCM – The Maltese Falcon (1941). The primetime
theme is "Bogie and Huston", including the classic hard-boiled detective film
that introduced Peter to Bogart.
Sept 4 (Sun), TCM – Around the World in 80 Days (1956).
Sept 8 (Thurs), TCM – All Through the Night (1942). The primetime
theme is "Super Sleuth", and in their second on-screen pairing, Bogart plays
a "Broadway bigshot" in search of the murderer of a family friend and
soon gets mixed up with Nazis led by Conrad Veidt and Peter Lorre.
Sept 9 (Fri), 10:55 pm, Talking Pictures TV Channel – The Face Behind the Mask (1941).
Sept 15 (Thurs), TCM – Passage to Marseille (1944).
Sept 16 (Fri), TCM – Silk Stockings (1957). TCM celebrates
the 100th birthday of Janis Paige.
Sept 17 (Sat), TCM – The Constant Nymph (1943).
Sept 21 (Wed), TCM – Hollywood Canteen (1944).
Sept 22 (Thurs), TCM – Casablanca (1942).
