In the pages of The Lost One: A Life of Peter Lorre (2005), Stephen D. Youngkin discusses the making of Arsenic and Old Lace. Freelancing among the Hollywood studios, Peter Lorre was hired on a picture-by-picture basis and had just finished work on The Maltese Falcon (1941) when he began work on Arsenic and Old Lace in the fall of 1941. By the time Arsenic was released to theaters in October, 1944, Peter held a long-term contract with the studio as a member of their stock company and was well into the most productive period of his professional life.
The Lost One: A Life of Peter Lorre is available for the Kindle and Nook, as well as hard-bound and soft-bound editions.
