April Movies with Lorre

Spring into April with Peter Lorre movies on the Turner Classic Movies channel, and other channels.

April, 2022

"April in Paris" and Saturday matinees are the focus on TCM this month.

April 10 (Sun), 5:45 pm, Turner Classic Movies channel – Silk Stockings (1957). TCM spends an "April in Paris Weekend", with several movies set in the French capital, including this Fred Astaire musical, featuring a singing and dancing Peter Lorre.

April 16 (Sat), 12 noon, TCM – Mad Love (1935) – TCM brings back the Saturday matinee with a Lorre double-feature. First up – Peter made his American film debut in this horror film from MGM.

April 16 (Sat), 3:16 pm, TCM – The Maltese Falcon (1941). Peter made his Warner Bros. film debut in this classic mystery film.

April 18 (Mon), 11:30 am, Fox Movie Channel – Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea (1961)

April 18 (Mon), 3 pm, Inspiration Channel – Wagon Train, "The Alexander Portless Story" (Mar. 16, 1960)

April 18 (Mon), 4 am, Fox Movie Channel – Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea (1961)

April 21 (Thurs), 3 am, TCM – The Story of Mankind (1957). TCM turns the spotlight on "Time Travel", including this all-star extraganza journey through history, guided by Ronald Colman as "The Spirit of Man" and Vincent Price as "Mr. Scratch". As Nero, who strums a lyre while Rome burns, Peter appears on the debit side.

April 23 (Sat), 12 noon, TCM – The Man Who Knew Too Much (1934). TCM brings back the Saturday matinee with Peter's first English-speaking role as a saboteur in London in this British film directed by Alfred Hitchcock.

April 24 (Sun), 7:40 am, Fox Movie Channel – Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea (1961)

A quick look at Lorre movies in May on TCM.

May 3 (Tues), 8:15 am, TCM – Meet Me in Las Vegas (1956). Every Tuesday in May, Turner Classic Movies takes a tour "Around the World in 80 Movies", beginning with "The Americas", including a Lorre cameo in this Cyd Charisse musical set in Las Vegas.

May 17 (Tues), 4:145 am, TCM – Casablanca (1942). TCM continues the "Around the World in 80 Movies" with a look at films set in Africa.

May 18 (Wed), 11:30 am, TCM – Arsenic and Old Lace (1944). TCM celebrates the birthday of director Frank Capra, including this Cary Grant comedy classic.
