Lorre Onscreen in Phoenixville

The historic Colonial Theatre, in Phoenixville, Pennsylvania, presents its annual showing of Casablanca (1942) on Sunday, February 25, 2024.

Sponsored by the Theatre Organ Society of the Delaware Valley (TOSDV), the program begins at 1 pm in the “1903” theater with a selection of classic Hollywood music played on the cinema’s Wurlitzer organ.

Casablanca begins at 1:30 pm with a video introduction by a Turner Classic Movies channel host and the Warner Bros. cartoon Carrotblanca (1995), with Tweety Bird doing an impression of Peter Lorre as Ugarte.

Admission is $12 for adults; seniors age 62 and over; students; and military members with ID; and $8 for children and Colonial Theatre members. Tickets may be purchased at the theater’s box-office, which opens at least an hour before the first program of the day. Tickets may also be purchased through the Colonial’s website.

The Colonial Theatre is located at 227 Bridge Street in the heart of the historic business center in Phoenixville, Pennsylvania.

Free 2-hour parking is available on the streets near the Colonial Theatre. The 2-hour limit is strictly enforced. Metered parking is available in nearby lots. Lorre Hitchcock Film Onscreen in Oregon

As the finale of their “BRITchcock in the 30s” series of Saturday matinees, Cinema 21, located in Portland, Oregon, will present Peter Lorre’s first English-Speaking movie The Man Who Knew Too Much (1934), on Saturday, February 24, 2024.

The film begins at 11 am.

Admission is $9 for all seats. Tickets may be purchased at the cinema’s box-office. Tickets may also be purchased through the Cinema 21 website. Click on the button marked “11 am” at the bottom of the Man Who Knew Too Much page. A purchase window will open. A nominal booking fee will be added to each ticket purchased online.

Happy Valentine’s Day, Lorre Lovers!

Valentine’s Day falls on Wednesday, February 14, 2024, and throughout the United States, cinemas small and large plan special showings of Casablanca (1942), long considered one of the most romantic movies ever made.

In the small but important role of Ugarte, who provides exit visits to refugees desperate to leave Casablanca – and the murderer of two German couriers – Peter Lorre gets the action going by leaving with his friend Rick Blaine (Humphrey Bogart) two valuable letters of transit he intends to sell to escaping freedom fighter Victor Lazlo (Paul Henreid) and his wife Ilsa (Ingrid Bergman).

But no matter the size of his part, Peter is always a treat to watch in a movie theater, including these ~

West Shore Theater – The historic West Shore Theater, in New Cumberland, Pennsylvania, will present a special showing of Casablanca on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, February 9, 10, and 11, 2024.

The program includes a Turner Classic Movies introduction and the Looney Tunes cartoon Carrotblanca (1995), with Bugs Bunny as Rick, Daffy Duck as Sam, and Tweety Bird as Ugarte.

Gateway Cinema – In Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, a special Valentine’s Day date night is available on Saturday, February 10, 2024.

Held at the Gateway Theater, the event begins at 6 pm with a cocktail party, including hors d’oeurves, wine, and a silent auction, followed by a private showing of Casablanca at 7:30 pm.

Tickets for the party and movie are $45 for individuals and $75 for couples. Tickets for the movie only are $20. Proceeds for the event go to the Gettysburg Battlefield Preservation Association. Make reservations through the Daniel Lady Farm website.

The R/C Gateway Theater 8 is located at 20 Presidential Circle in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania.



IPIC Westwood – The IPIC Westwood in Los Angeles, California, will show Casablanca on Sunday, February 11, 2024.

The movie begins at 3 pm.

Premium Plus seats are $23.50 for adults, $17.50 for children. Standard Seating is $16.50 for adults, $12.50 for children. Tickets may be purchased at the box office or online through the IPIC website.

Flashback Cinema chain – Theaters in the Flashback Cinema chain will show Casablanca throughout the United States on Sunday, February 11, and Wednesday, February 14, 2024.

Brattle Theatre – The Brattle Theatre, in Cambridge, Massachusetts, presents Casablanca every Valentine’s Day, and this year, the classic movie will be shown Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, February 13, 14, and 15.

The Brattle offers matinee showings each day at 4 pm and an evening show at 7 pm on February 15.

Matinee prices are $12.50 for all seats. The evening show is $14.50 general admission, and $12.50 for children, students, seniors, and members of the Brattle. Tickets may be purchased at the box office or online through the Brattle website.

Barrymore Film Center – The Barrymore Film Center in Fort Lee, New Jersey, offers a Valentine’s Day special – two tickets for Casablanca on Wednesday, February 14, and dinner at a participating restaurant.

Casablanca will be shown at 7:30 pm on Valentine’s Day.

Two tickets for the “Dinner and a Movie” offer are $18 – 40% off the regular price – and may be purchased through the venue’s website.

Show the receipt at any of the area’s participating restaurants from Wednesday, February 14, to Sunday, February 18, and receive a special deal or discount.

Tickets for the movie only are also available. Admission is $15 for adults, $9 for Barrymore members, and $12 for seniors (over 65) and children (under 10).
