The program begins at 5 pm with a screening of the 1931 original M, starring Peter Lorre as the tortured child murderer, and directed by Fritz Lang.
The 1951 remake of M follows, with David Wayne stepping into Peter’s role.
The evening ends with El Vampiro Negro (The Black Vampire, 1953), a reimagined version of M from Argentina.
Admission for the triple feature is $13 for American Cinematheque members, and $15 non-members of all ages. Tickets may be purchased on-line through Fandango or by calling Fandango at (800) FANDANGO and entering the Egyptian’s theater code – 2206 – when prompted. A processing fee will be added to any tickets purchased on-line.
Tickets may also be purchased at the Egyptian’s box office, which opens 90 minutes before the first feature of the day.
Eddie Muller, known as the “Czar of Noir” and host of the Turner Classic Movie channel’s series Noir Alley, will join Alan K. Rode, of the Film Noir Foundation, in hosting all Noir City screenings.
Now in its 22nd year, the Noir City festival begins on Friday, March 6, and runs for 10 nights to Sunday, March 15, 2020. The full schedule is available on the American Cinemateque website.
