It’s Rondo Time Again!

Rondo Awards

Named after 1940s actor Rondo Hatton, whose facial disfigurement by the disease Acromegaly led to a career in Hollywood horror films, the Rondo Hatton Classic Horror Awards are the annual award where ordinary fans of science-fiction, horror, and fantasy vote for their favorites among the categories Movies, TV, DVDs, Restorations, Books, Magazines, Magazine Cover Artwork, Websites, Blogs, Fan Events, and more.

Now in its 19th year, the Rondos will wrap up at midnight on Sunday, April 25, 2021, Eastern Standard Time – but there’s still plenty of time to vote.

In 2006, Stephen D. Youngkin won the Best Book of 2005 Rondo for The Lost One: A Life of Peter Lorre (University Press of Kentucky).

This year, there are a couple of Lorre items on the ballot for the Best of 2020 ~

#5 – Best Restoration or Upgrade – Among the nominees is the Route 66 episode “Lizard’s Leg and Owlet’s Wing” by Retromedia.

#11 – Book of the Year – Among the nominees is The Animated Peter Lorre by Matthew Hahn, published by BearManor Media. A favorite of nightclub comedians, Peter called himself the most imitated man in Hollywood, and in this book, Matthew Hahn discusses the many Lorre caricatures throughout Peter’s career and after his passing in 1964.
