Jan. 3 (Tues), 7:30 am, Antenna TV channel – The Jack Benny Program (Jan. 22, 1963). Airing 63 years ago this month, this episode of the popular comedian's TV variety show includes a sketch with Peter Lorre in which Jack Benny dreams an escaping murderer (Peter) forces a plastic surgeon to change his face to look like Jack's.
Jan. 6 (Fri), 9:15 am, TCM – Strange Cargo (1940). The daytime theme is "Actor and Director Frank Borzage", including this clark Gable and Joan Crawford film set on Devil's Island.
Jan. 6 (Fri), 12:45 am, ScreenPix Action channel – The Comedy of Terrors (1964).

Jan. 7 (Sat), 8 pm, MeTV channel – The Raven (1963). Popular horror host Svengoolie gets a two-and-a-half-hour timeslot, and kicks off his new format with this AIP horror-comedy, starring Vincent Price, Peter Lorre, and Boris Karloff as wizards.
Jan. 8 (Sun), 10:40 am, Fox Movies channel – Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea (1961).
Jan. 20 (Fri), 11:15 pm, TCM – Stranger on the Third Floor (1940). The primetime theme is "Female Detectives: Rogue Females", as TCM salutes the women who solve crimes in 1930s and 1940s movies, including this classic in which Jane (Margaret Tallichet) tracks down the real killer (Peter Lorre) to save her boyfriend Michael (John McGuire).
Jan. 20 (Fri), 5 am, Fox Movies channel – Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea (1961).
Jan. 25 (Wed), 5:25 am, Talking Pictures TV – Mrs. G. Goes to College, "First Test" (Oct 11, 1961). Peter Lorre's first of two appearances as Dr. Kestner, one of Mrs. Green's instructors.
Jan. 30 (Mon), 6 pm, TCM – The Maltese Falcon (1941). TCM's daytime theme is "Lost Generation Authors", including the third adaptation of Dashiell Hammett's mystery novel.
Sneak Peek at February, 2023
February brings a handful of Lorre movies and television shows.
Feb. 5 (Sun), 11 pm, TCM – Screen Director's Playhouse, "No. 5 checked Out" (NBC, Jan. 18, 1956). The primetime theme is "Directed by Ida Lupino", showcasing the actress who also directed film and television, including this episode of the mid-1950s anthology series.
Feb. 9 (Thurs), 8 am, TCM – The Constant Nymph (1943). The daytime theme is "Alexis Smith", including the first pairing of Charles Boyer and Peter Lorre.
Feb. 10 (Fri), 12 noon, TCM – Hotel Berlin (1945). The daytime theme is "Alan Hale", including the only movie the senior Hale made with Peter Lorre.
Feb. 15 (Wed), 4:30 am, TCM – Mad Love (1935). The primetime theme is "Pianists", including Peter's first American film role as a gifted surgeon who replaces a pianist's crushed hands with the hands of a knife-throwing murderer.
