Peter Lorre’s association with the British director, born on August 14, 1899, began in the early 1930s with roles in Alfred Hitchcock’s The Man Who Knew Too Much (1934) and Secret Agent (1936), and continued into the 1950s with appearances in two episodes of Hitchcock’s weekly television series Alfred Hitchcock Presents.
