Film Noir Series Includes 2 Lorre Films

The Providence Public Library’s Film Noir Series “Crime: Pulp, Art and Hollywood” will include two Peter Lorre movies this season – M (1931) and The Maltese Falcon (1941).

On Thursday, Jan. 24, 2013, M will be shown. On Thursday, Mar. 14, The Maltese Falcon is the feature.

Movies will be shown in the Auditorium, located on the third floor of the library. The program begins at 6 pm. All movies are free and open to the public. Sign-up for the series on-line through the library’s website.

Film writer and director Ron Hagell will lead a discussion on each movie in the series. Mr. Hagell, who holds both a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Fine Arts, has taught screenwriting around the world, including such institutions as University of London and Frankfurt University.

The Providence Public Library is located at 150 Empire Street in Providence, Rhode Island. Directions may be found on the library’s website.

Parking is available close to the library along Washington Street in the following locations: Hilton Providence Garage, adjacent to the Dunkin’ Donut Center; Intown Parking, 131 Washington Street; and Dunkin Donut Center Parking, 165 Washington Street. Discount parking is available at the Providence Hilton Parking Garage – $3 for 3 hours for most programs; bring your ticket with you for validation at the library.
