In the pages of The Lost One: A Life of Peter Lorre, Stephen D. Youngkin discusses the making of Beat the Devil through interviews with cast and crew working on the picture, including director John Huston.

Beat the Devil was the final movie teaming Peter Lorre with his old friend Humphrey Bogart and director Huston. Both Huston and Bogart considered Peter a “good luck charm” and invited him to join the cast for filming on location in Italy, with additional work in England.

The Lost One: A Life of Peter Lorre may be purchased from Amazon U.S., Amazon Canada, and Amazon U.K, as well as other booksellers.
