Historic Cinema Presents Lorre Classic

Lorre fans in Schroon Lake, New York, are in for a special treat on Monday, August 29, 2022 – a showing at the historic Strand Theatre of The Maltese Falcon (1941), hosted by Jeremy Arnold, Turner Classic Movies commentator, film historian, and author.

The program begins at 8 pm with an introduction of the movie by Mr. Arnold. Following the screening, he will sign purchased copies of his newest book, The Essentials Volume 2 – 52 More Must-See Movies and Why They Matter (2020), which includes The Maltese Falcon.

Admission is $10 for everyone. Tickets may be purchased at the door, cash only.


The Strand Theatre is located at 1102 US-9 (Main Street) in Schroon Lake, New York.

Parking is available on the street in front of the cinema. Parking is also available in the shopping center across the street.

The historic Strand Theatre has been operating since the early 1940s. Much of the original architecture is still in place, with an Art Deco interior and vintage candy mechanics and movie posters. Owned since 1998 by Liz and Larry McNamara, the Strand is an entertainment venue in this small mountain town.
