Lorre Movies on TV in July

Summer in July brings a handful of Lorre films on the Turner Classic Movies channel, as well as other channels, including Talking Pictures TV.

American times shown are Eastern Standard.

Peter Lorre’s page on the TV Guide Channel website lists the Lorre films scheduled on various television channels over a 2-week period.


July, 2023

Guest programmer Tom Hanks selects a Lorre movie and a series of Las Vegas movies are the highlights on TCM, while Lorre fans in the U.K. or subscribers to the Movies! network can enjoy a variety of Peter's movies this month.

July 1 (Sat), 8 pm, Movies! Network – Around the World in 80 Days (1956).

July 2 (Sun), 4 pm, TCM – Casablanca (1942). Regular host Ben Mankiewicz welcome actor Tom Hanks as guest programmer for a double-feature, beginning with Casablanca, followed by Jezebel.

July 3 (Mon), 4:15 am, Movies! Network – Quicksand (1950).

July 5 (Wed), 11:45 am, Movies! Network – Around the World in 80 Days (1956).

July 6 (Thurs), 7:45 am, Movies! Network – The Verdict (1946).

July 9 (Sun), 4:15 pm, Movies! Network – Around the World in 80 Days (1956).

July 11 (Tues), 4:30 am, TCM – Meet Me in Las Vegas (1956). The primetime theme is "What Happens in Vegas . . .", and the evening of movies set in Las Vegas, Nevada, ends with this musical comedy about a lucky gambler; Peter has a cameo as a blackjack player.

July 10 (Mon), 7:45 pm, Movies! Network – Around the World in 80 Days (1956).

July 12 (Wed), 1:30 am, Talking Pictures TV – The Boogie Man Will Get You (1942). Cellar Club with Caroline Munro presents this horror comedy starring Peter Lorre and Boris Karloff.

July 13 (Thurs), 12:15 am, Movies! Network – The Verdict (1946).

July 14 (Fri), 18:45 pm, Talking Pictures TV – Beat the Devil (1954).

July 16 (Sun), 8 pm, Movies! Network – The Verdict (1946).

July 18 (Tues), 9:25 am, Talking Pictures TV – I Was an Adventuress (1940).

July 21 (Fri), 23 pm, Talking Pictures TV – Tales of Terror (1962). Cellar Club with Caroline Munro presents this horror starring Peter Lorre, Vincent Price, and Basil Rathbone.

July 27 (Thurs), 2 pm, Movies! Network – The Verdict (1946).

July 28 (Fri), 3 pm, Inspire (Insp) – Wagon Train, "The Alexander Portlass Story" (NBC, March 16, 1960).

July 29 (Sat), 11:15 am, Movies! Network – Around the World in 80 Days (1956).


Sneak Peek at August, 2023

August brings TCM's annual "Summer Under the Stars" film festival, and this year, the actors co-starring with Peter Lorre include Rhonda Fleming, Ronald Colman, Bob Hope, Fred Astaire, and Humphrey Bogart.

Aug 10 (Thurs), 6 am, TCM – The Big Circus (1959). Rhonda Fleming is the star today, including this movie set in a traveling three-ring circus.

Aug 15 (Tues), 8:15 am, TCM – The Story of Mankind (1957). Ronald Colman is the star today, including this movie highlighting the villains and heroes of human history.

Aug 17 (Thurs), 8:15 am, TCM – My Favorite Brunette (1947). Bob Hope is the star today, including this comedy about a baby photographer turned private detective (Hope) and the gang after uranium. Note – In Canada, A Global Affair (1964) will be shown instead.

Aug 19 (Sat), 8:15 am, TCM – Silk Stockings (1957). Fred Astaire is the star today, including this musical comedy with a singing and dancing Peter Lorre.

Aug 27 (Sun), 4 pm, TCM – Passage to Marseille (1944). Humphrey Bogart is the star today, including this World War II drama about convicts escaping from the French penal colony in French Guiana.

Aug 27 (Sun), 10 pm, TCM – The Maltese Falcon (1941). The day of Humphrey Bogart movies continues with this classic mystery.
