In 1940, Peter Lorre worked with Bela Lugosi, as well as Boris Karloff, in the musical horror-comedy You’ll Find Out (1940), starring Kay Kyser and members of his Kollege of Musical Knowledge band. Hired to play at the 21st birthday party of a debutante, Kay and his band thwart the plans of Lorre, Lugosi, and Karloff to murder the girl and gain control of her estate.
On September 25, 1940, Kay Kyser hosted the three villains on his weekly radio show, Kay Kyser’s Kollege of Musical Knowledge, a musical quiz show airing every Wednesday over NBC. Sadly, this program has apparently been lost.
But You’ll Find Out is included on a box-set of four Karloff and Lugosi movies. The DVD is available through Amazon United States. Or catch it on the Turner Classic Movies channel on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, at 2 am Eastern.
Happy birthday, Bela!
