Disney Classic at the AFI Silver

Advertised as “The Mightiest Motion Picture of Them All!” during its original 1954 release, the Walt Disney Studios classic 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea (1954), starring Peter Lorre, James Mason, Kirk Douglas, and Paul Lukas, will be shown at the AFI Silver Theatre and Cultural Center from Friday, July 17 to Thursday, July 23, 2026, as part of the venue’s series “CinemaScope Summer”.

Admission to weekday matinees is $10 for adults and $8 for children. Admission to weekend and evening shows is $14 for adults, $11 for seniors, and $8 for children. Tickets may be purchased at the box office. Tickets may also be purchased online through the AFI Silver website.

The “CinemaScope Summer” series runs from Saturday, July 11, to Thursday, September 17, and includes such classic films as Fantastic Voyage, Forbidden Planet, Rebel Without a Cause, and the animated Disney classic Lady and the Tramp. The full schedule is available on the cinema’s website.

The AFI Silver Theatre is located at 8633 Colesville Road, at the intersection of Colesville Road and Georgia Avenue, in Silver Spring, Maryland.

Parking is available in several public parking decks close to the theater. Most convenient is the Wayne Avenue garage, located at 921 Wayne Avenue, Silver Spring, Maryland.
