Lorre Lovers, Celebrate Valentine’s Day with Peter

Peter Lorre fans in the Amherst and Hamburg areas in New York state will be able to spend Valentine’s Day with Peter through showings of Casablanca (1942).

At the Screening Room in Amherst, NY, Casablanca will be shown twice on Valentine’s Day at 7 pm and 9:15 pm. Additional screenings will be on these dates and times:
  • Friday, Feb. 15 – 7 pm
  • Saturday, Feb. 16 – 7 pm
Tickets for Casablanca are $6 and are available at the box-office on a first-come basis, beginning 30 minutes before the movie begins.

The Screening Room is located within the Northtown Plaza, in the Northtown Plaza Business Center, at 3131 Sheridan Drive, Amherst, NY. The Business Center faces N. Bailey Avenue, behind the Arthur Murray Dance Studio. Parking is available on the N. Bailey side of the building.


At the Hamburg Palace in Hamburg, NY, Casablanca will be shown on Valentine’s Day at 7 pm.

Admission is $5.50 for adults, and $4.50 for children and seniors.

Secret Agent, Casablanca at the AFI Silver

Lorre fans will have an opportunity to catch two Peter Lorre movies at the American Film Institute theater in Silver Spring, MD, this weekend when both Secret Agent (1936) and Casablanca (1942) will be shown.

In honor of Alma Reville – Mrs. Alfred Hitchcock – and her contribution to her husband’s work, the AFI presents Mr. and Mrs. Hitchock, a series of Hitchcock movies from Feb. 3 to Apr. 10, 2013. Included in the retrospective is Secret Agent (1936), for which Alma Reville received on-screen credit as one of the screenwriters.

Casablanca is among the Special Engagements at the AFI.

Secret Agent will be shown on the following dates and times:
  • Saturday, Feb. 16 – 1 pm
  • Sunday, Feb. 17 – 5:25 pm
  • Wednesday, Feb. 20 – 7:15 pm
Casablanca will be shown on these dates and times:
  • Saturday, Feb. 16 – 7:15 pm
  • Sunday, Feb. 17 – 3:15 pm
  • Monday, Feb. 18 – 5:15 pm
Tickets are $11.50 for general admission; $9 for seniors 65 years and older, students, and the military (with proper ID); and $7 for children 12 and under. For AFI members, admission is $8.50. AFI Member Passes will be accepted for all movies in both series.

Tickets for may be reserved on-line through the AFI Silver website. Click the “Buy Tickets” button, then scroll to the title Secret Agent or Casablanca, click the link and select a show date and time. Tickets reserved on-line must be claimed at the box office with the same credit card used to make the reservation. The AFI Silver accepts American Express, Visa, MasterCard, and Discover credit cards.

Tickets may also be purchased at the AFI Silver box office, which opens 30 minutes before the first film of the day.
