Northwest Film Center Runs The Chase This Weekend

The Northwest Film Center in Portland, Oregon, will include The Chase (1946) as part of their “Treasures from the UCLA Archive” film festival this month, featuring a selection of the restored movie prints shown during UCLA’s 2013 “Festival of Preservation”. The festival begins on Friday, January 3, and ends on Thursday, January 30, 2014.

The Chase will be shown Saturday, Jan. 4, at 4 pm, with a second showing on Sunday, Jan. 5, at 7 pm.

Funded by The Film Foundation and the Franco-American Cultural fund, preservation of The Chase involved incomplete 35mm nitrate prints and negatives, both original and dupe, as well as 16mm acetate picture and track negatives.

The Chase will be shown at the Portland Art Museum, in the Whitsell Auditorium, located at 1219 SW Park Avenue, in Portland, Oregon. The Whitsell Auditorium is located on the lower level of the Belluschi Building.

The entrance to the Whitsell Auditorium is located at the Hoffman Lobby entrance, located on the north side of the Museum’s red brick building at Madison and Park avenues, near the Museum Gift Shop and outdoor sculpture garden. The Portland Art Museum is located in downtown Portland, on the historic Park Blocks.

Tickets are $9 for general admission; $8 for Portland Art Museum (PAM) members, students, and seniors; and $6 for Friends of the Film Center.

Tickets may be purchased at the Box Office, which opens 30 minutes before any show. Tickets may also be purchased on-line, through the Northwest Film Center website. Scroll to The Chase entry on the schedule and click the “Buy Tickets” button. A fee of $1 will be added to your order.
