Odd Fellows Present The Maltese Falcon

The Odd Fellows of Davis, California, continue their series of classic detective movies with The Maltese Falcon (1941) on Sunday, September 16, 2018.

The program begins at 7:01 pm. Derrick Bang, film critic for the Davis Enterprise and author of books on film, will present The Maltese Falcon and discuss the movie’s story, actors, and director.

Admission is free for everyone, and the public is invited. Popcorn is free, too! And the Odd Fellows bar will be open with wine, beer, and spirits. Donations are gratefully accepted.

The Maltese Falcon will be shown at the Odd Fellows Hall, upstairs in the Upper Hall, on the Odd Fellows’ big screen projection system.

Odd Fellows Hall is located 415 2nd Street in downtown Davis, California. Parking is available in the lot behind the Hall, as well as on the streets nearby.

Chartered in Davis, California, in 1860, the Odd Fellows are delighted to bring classic Hollywood movies to the Davis community, twice a year – spring and fall – since the spring of 2014. Says Dave Rosenberg, chairman of the Classic Film Festival, "They just don’t make them like this anymore. These films have stood the test of time and are both interesting and great fun to watch."

The September 2018 fest, which began Sunday, Sept. 9, with The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes (1939), will conclude with Out of the Past (1947) on Sunday, Sept. 23, 2018.
