Every August, the Turner Classic Movies channel presents "Summer Under the Stars", with each day devoted to a particular actor or actress. Although Peter Lorre does not get a "Day" this year, as he has in years past, several of his co-stars are highlighted – Claude Rains, Clark Gable, James Gleason, Hedy Lamarr, and Gina Lollobrigida.

Aug 5 (Tues), 1:30 pm, TCM – Passage to Marseille (1944). Claude Rains is the "Star of the Day" and among the movies are two films he made with Peter Lorre. In this World War II drama, five convicts (Peter Lorre, Humphrey Bogart, George Tobias, Helmut Dantine, Philip Dorn) escape from the penal colony in French Guiana and are picked up by a tramp steamer bound for Marseille.
Aug 5 (Tues), 10 pm, TCM – Casablanca (1942). Claude Rains is the "Star of the Day" and the second Lorre film is one of his most famous. This wartime classic features Peter in the pivotal role of Ugarte, the blackmarket dealer in exit visas.

Jewel thieves Gable and Rosalind Russell escape from the police in Bombay, India, by boarding Peter Lorre's freighter bound for Hong Kong.

Aug 19 (Tues), 4 pm, TCM – The Conspirators (1944). Hedy Lamarr is the "Star of the Day" and among the movies is the only American film she made with Peter Lorre, a World War II spy drama set in Lisbon, Portugal.

Aug 23 (Sat), 11:45 am, TCM – Beat the Devil (1954). Gina Lollobrigida is the "Star of the Day" and among the movies is the only film she made with Peter Lorre, a caper comedy set in Italy, and the final movie Peter made with his old friend Humphrey Bogart.

Sneak Peek at September, 2025
September brings a number of Peter Lorre movies on TCM, including the only movie he made with Lauren Bacall, whose birthday is celebrated with a morning and afternoon of her movies.
Sept 2 (Tues), TCM – Mad Love (1935). The daytime theme is "Mad Obsession", including Peter Lorre's first American movie, the MGM classic Mad Love. Note: In Canada, another film will be shown instead of Mad Love.
Sept 4 (Thurs), TCM – The Beast with Five Fingers (1946). The late night theme is "Beasts", including Peter Lorre's final movie at the Warner Bros studio.
Sept 8 (Mon), TCM – The Cross of Lorraine (1943). The daytime theme is "WWII in Europe", including Peter Lorre's turn as a vicious Sergeant in a German prisoner of war camp.
Sept 16 (Tues), TCM – Confidential Agent (1945). TCM celebrates the birthday of Lauren Bacall with a morning and afternoon of her movies, including the only film she made with Peter Lorre.
