Lorre Lovers, Spend Valentine’s Day with Peter

In cinemas around the United States, Valentine’s Day means special showings of Casablanca (1942), considered by many as one of the most romantic movies in cinema history.

And although Peter Lorre doesn’t get much screen time, it’s always a treat for Lorre fans to catch him in a movie theater, including these ~

Amherst Screening Room ~ The Amherst Screening Room, in Amherst, New York, will present Casablanca on the following dates and times:
  • Feb. 13, Saturday – 7:30 pm
  • Feb. 14, Sunday – 5 pm and 7:30 pm
  • Feb. 16, Tuesday – 7:30 pm
  • Feb. 19, Friday – 7:30 pm
  • Feb. 20, Saturday – 7:30 pm

Admission on Valentine’s Day will be $7, with special advance tickets for two for $25, including the movie, champagne, and popcorn. Tickets for all other showings will be $6.

Bay Ridge Jewish Center ~ The Bay Ridge Jewish Center, in Brooklyn, New York, will host a showing of Casablanca on Saturday, February 13, at 7 pm.

Admission is $20 and includes dinner.

Lucas Theatre ~ The Lucas Theatre for the Arts, in Savannah, Georgia, offers a special Valentine’s package for their showing of Casablanca on Saturday, February 13, at 8 pm.

For $20, couples may purchase two movie tickets, two soft drinks, and one large popcorn. General admission is $9, with $6 for military, students, and seniors.

Granada Theatre ~ The Granada Theatre, in Dallas, Texas, will present a special Valentine’s Day Double Feature – crooner Ricki Derek and his Cupid Quartet performing love songs by Frank Sinatra and Tony Bennett among others, followed by a screening of Casablanca. The program begins at 8 pm on Sunday, February 14.

Tickets are $30 to $53 for everyone age 14 and over.

Prytania Theatre ~ The Prytania Theatre, in New Orleans, Louisiana, will present Casablanca on Sunday, February 14, and Wednesday, February 17, at 10 am, as part of their Classic Movie Series.

Admission is $5.75 for all seats.

Music Box Theatre ~ At the Music Box Theatre, in Chicago, Illinois, you and your Valentine can sing along to a selection of love songs, such as “Bicycle Built for Two” and “You Are My Sunshine” complete with on-screen lyrics and accompaniment by the Music Box organ – followed by a screening of Casablanca. The annual “Valentine’s Sweetheart Sing-Along” begins at noon on Saturday, February 13.

Tickets are $13 for general admission, $11 for children age 12 and under, and $10 for Music Box members.

Can’t get out to a movie theater to see Casablanca?

Fear not!

You can still spend Valentine’s Day with Peter at home – when the Turner Classic Movies channel presents Casablanca on Sunday, Feb. 14, as part of their annual “31 Days of Oscar” film festival. The movie begins at 8 pm EST, 7 pm Central, 6 pm Mountain, and 5 pm Pacific.
