Lorre Films in February

February brings Valentine's Day, the start of the annual "31 Days of Oscar", and more surprises on the Turner Classic Movies channel, the Talking Pictures TV channel in England, and Movies! Network in the United States.

During the first week in February, the animated Warner Bros star Bugs Bunny is TCM's "Star of the Month"!

Feb 3 (Tues), 1 am, TCM – Hair-Raising Hare (1946). Bugs Bunny is the "Star of the Month" on TCM during the first week in February, and Bugs Bunny cartoons are sprinkled throughout each night's movie schedule, arranged by theme. At 1:00 am Eastern, the theme is "Mad Science", with three cartoons in which it's Bugs versus mad scientists, including a mad scientist who looks a lot like Peter Lorre!

Feb 6 (Fri), 6 am, Fox Movie Channel – Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea (1961).

Feb 7 (Sat), 7 pm, KQED San Francisco PBS Channel – Casablanca (1942). The "Saturday Night Movie" on San Francisco's local PBS station is the classic romance film set during World War II.

Feb 14 (Sat), 12 noon, TCM – Casablanca (1942). TCM's annual "31 Days of Oscar" film festival begins on Friday, February 13, with the Oscar-winning and Oscar-nominated movies scheduled in themes. Day 2's theme is "Oscar Goes to Paris", with a day of movies set in the "City of Lights", including this romantic classic actually set in the North African city of Casablanca, but with Paris flashbacks.

Feb 14 (Sat), 8 pm, KSPS Spokane, Washington, PBS Channel – Casablanca (1942). The "Saturday Night Cinema" feature on Spokane's local PBS station – hosted by Mike Hoff, Ryan Tucker, and Mikayla Daniels – is the classic romance film set during World War II.

Feb 16 (Mon), 10:05 pm, Movies! Network – Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea (1961).

Feb 24 (Tues), 1 am, Talking Pictures TV, British Television – Beat the Devil (1954).

Feb 28 (Sat), 10 pm, KQED San Francisco PBS Channel – Casablanca (1942). A second showing on the "Saturday Night Movie" of the Humphrey Bogart and Peter Lorre classic.

In March, TCM's "31 Days of Oscar" continues with some of Peter Lorre's Oscar-winning and Oscar-nominated movies.

Mar 1 (Sun), TCM – Hollywood Canteen (1944).

Mar 3 (Tues), TCM – Around the World in 80 Days (1956).

Mar 11 (Wed), TCM – Meet Me in Las Vegas (1956).
